TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Messrs Clay & Sons
Date3 October 1889
DescriptionRix explains that they supplied Eyre & Spottiswoode with two sets of the Royal Society's 'Catalogue of Scientific Papers' prior to the finalisation of their arrangement with Messrs Clay & Son, and that these have been paid for at the rate given to Fellows, due to their friendly relations with the firm. He states that Eyre & Spottiswoode were informed on 2 July and 20 September that they can no longer be supplied with volumes of the catalogue, which is now supplied by Clay & Sons alone. If they hold any volumes in addition to the two sets, they must be from stock held on behalf of the Stationery Office, having been agents for them.

Rix cannot comment on whether a special price has been fixed in America, as they do not supply to trade but only to their own Fellows. The trade are supplied by the Stationary Office or their agents, or Mr Murray, so he advises contacting them for an answer to his question.
