Description | Rix asks on what grounds he believes Ehless to be the only individual on the Continent who has received his copy of the monograph, speculating that he may believe this as none of the others have acknowledged receipt of their parcels. The Royal Society has indications that Professor Graff of Graz has received his volume, and so too they believe have Baron Ettingshanpere and Professor Rollett. The Society has received a card from Professor Agassiz returning thanks for his copy.
Rix reflects that it is not surprising that the copies have been delayed, as the strike of the dock labourers was only concluded at the end of September, and it took a few weeks to clear the backlog that had accumulated. He cautions Lendenfeld not to interpret the absence of receipts of acknowledgement as evidence of non-delivery. Rix will however investigate if any definite cases emerge. |
