Date11 March 1889
DescriptionIn answer to Scharf's letter of 7 March, Rix replies that they have two folio volumes containing 'Canton Papers; collected by John Canton, F.R.S. [Fellow of the Royal Society] and his son William Canton...' and 'Prolegomena, prepared and arranged by James Yates, F.R.S'. There is also a large thin quarto of additional Canton papers.

Rix does not find any of Yates's apparatus in their catalogue. He notes that there are letters of Franklin, Priestly, Doddridge and others in the Canton papers.
