TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to His Excellency, the Brazilian Minister
Date11 March 1888
DescriptionAsks whether the Brazilian Minister would be happy to receive the books intended for the Emperor of Brazil in readiness to be forwarded to him, as proposed in a letter from Sir J V Lister.

Rix provides the background information passed to the Society, namely that the Emperor mentioned to Her Majesty's Minister at Rio de Janeiro that he would like to receive the publications of the Royal Society. The Society records show that the Emperor was listed to receive 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society' until 1875, but after that date no application had been received. As a consequence the President and Council of the Society decided that for his convenience, they would send an annual parcel.
