DescriptionRix responds to Collins' questions regarding the 'Catalogue of Scientific Papers'. He explains that the volumes already published were printed by Eyre & Spottiswoode and issued by the Stationary Office, and the volumes currently going through the press are being printed by Clay & Sons; he believes it unlikely that either were stereotyped.

He also states that he does not know the cost of their printing, as the first eight volumes were printed at the expense of the Government with no account passing through the Royal Society. Rix suggests that he contact John Evans, Treasurer, for details of the costs for the new decade. Finally, Rix responds to state that 1874 to 1883 is currently going through the press.

Rix suggests it may be considered premature to be concerned with the Subject Index until the Catalogue Committee has met and decided about the matter. However, he admits that he is not party to information that may have passed between Collins and Sir George Gabriel Stokes about the matter.
