TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Walter Frank Raphael Weldon, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date22 February 1905
DescriptionSir A Geikie has handed Harrison his letter of yesterday and asked Harrison to beg Weldon to nominate suitable referees for Dr Bastian's paper, unless he prefers to leave that responsibility for his Committee, which would then he suppose, have to meet. The only other business Harrison is aware of is Keeble and Gamble's paper, regarding which he encloses a separate memorandum [not enclosed].

Geikie had no idea of treating Dr Bastian's paper out of the usual course as regards referees, but Weldon's letter still leaves open the question of whether the paper should be read. Geikie holds that a Fellow of Dr Bastian's position is entitled to be heard, quite apart from the question of publication of the paper, but Harrison would like to know Weldon's view on this part of the question, and on the further question involved as to setting up the abstract in type for the meeting.
