| Description | The President and Council have before them a communication from Professor G H Darwin, representative of the British Government on the International Geodetic Committee, stating that a project is being considered which may lead to part of the funds of the general Indian Trigonometrical and Geodetic Survey, being diverted towards the expenses of the revision of district maps. Explains why Council are strongly of the opinion that interruption or delay in the operation of the main survey would be unfortunate.
Council unanimously expresses a hope that the Indian Government will not institute a fundamental change affecting the scientific work of the trigonometrical survey until they have considered expert advice such as the International Geodetic Committee could give, or the Royal Society could obtain, regarding the desirability of such changes. |
