| Description | Discusses the proposals of the German Government for the organization of international cooperation in the investigation of earthquakes.
In the opinion of the Society, it was desirable that the participation of Britain should be contingent on the organization and plan of working of the undertaking being approved by the International Association of Academies. The Association met at the Society in May and following some divergence of opinion it was resolved to form a Committee to, if possible, harmonize the conflicting views then expressed. The Committee met in Frankfurt last October under the Chairmanship of Professor A Schuster and adopted a report unanimously signed, proposing certain alterations in the terms of the convention of July 1903, under which the Seismic Association had been constituted. A copy of this report is enclosed [not enclosed].
Discusses the place of the Earthquake Committee under the auspices of the British Association for the Advancement of Science.
States five conditions which the Society thinks should be fulfilled before Britain joins the international seismic organization. |
