DescriptionThe President [William Huggins] yesterday reported to the Council Foster's letter intimating that the business of the International Association of Academies had been transferred to the Imperial Academy of Sciences of Vienna as directing Academy and that Foster's duties as representative of the Society on the International Council had now terminated.

Expresses the great regret of the Council that Foster is unable to accept a further nomination as the representative of the Society.

Sends a copy of a resolution unanimously adopted by the Council recording their appreciation of the success of the general assembly of the International Association of Academies under the direction of the Royal Society.
