TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to Professor Eduard Suess, [Fellow of the Royal Society]
Date23 March 1905
DescriptionEncloses an official letter [not enclosed]. From this, and the copy of the letter from the Royal Society to the Foreign Office dated 1 March, Geikie hopes Suess will realize how the matters of the Seismological organization stand in Britain. Matters have been complicated by the fact that they have had for many years a world wide organization under the charge or John Milne, and there has been a strong feeling that this organization has a prior claim on resources. The recommendations of the Society are a compromise. The Government has not yet intimated its decision.
