| Description | At a recent meeting of delegates from the Tropical Diseases Committee of the Royal Society with the Colonial Secretary on the subject of further measures to be taken with regard to Sleeping Sickness in the African Protectorates, some doubt appeared to exist in Mr Lyttleton's mind whether the cause of the disease is sufficiently well ascertained to justify administrative action on the part of the Government. The members of the Committee feel it would be well as far as possible to remove this doubt by furnishing the Colonial Office with a statement signed by a few of those in this country who have either taken part in, or have watched the progress of the investigation. Is therefore desired to enclose for the recipients consideration a copy of the proposed statement and to ask if the recipients approve, whether they would sign and return said statement [not enclosed]. |
