TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to the Director General, Army Medical Service
Date12 April 1905
DescriptionIn the investigation into Mediterranean Fever which the Society has undertaken to supervise for the War Office, Admiralty and Colonial Office, they had the great advantage last year of the services of Dr R W Johnstone who was allowed by the Local Government Board to proceed to Malta for the purpose of studying the epidemiology of the disease. Johnstone prepared an excellent report of his enquiries but it has been decided at the Local Government Board that he will not return to Malta this year. The Society think it very desirable the enquiries which Johnstone began be continued this summer and Geikie asks if the General would be willing to lend the services of Lieutenant Colonel Davies. Colonel [David] Bruce will be able to afford every information on the nature and duration of the services asked for. The Society also strongly desires that Colonel Bruce should again pay a short visit to Malta this year, to personally look into the progress of the work.
