| Description | As the result of the recent investigations of the Commission on Mediterranean Fever, it has been found that the system of notification of cases of this fever at Malta is so defective that it appears to be impossible at present to obtain the necessary data for the adequate study of the epidemiology of the disease.
Dr Johnstone, who was specially charged with this branch of the enquiry, has sent in a report, pointing out the urgent necessity of reform in this matter. The Society hopes the Secretary of State may be willing to press the matter on the Maltese authorities. It is desirable that an English Medical Officer of Health with say six trained sanitary inspectors, be sent to Malta to put this branch of the public services on a proper basis. |
