| Description | Professor V H Vines has written to say that it is impossible for him to report on the following papers before May as he is leaving Oxford for the Easter vacation: A D Hall and N H J Miller, 'On the Effect of Plant Growth and of Manures upon the Soil: the retention of bases by the Soil'; Miss Dale, 'Further Experiments and Histological Investigations on Intumescences, with Observations on Nuclear Division in Pathological Tissues'; and Miss E Chick, 'A Study of the Process of Nitrification with reference to the purification of Sewage'.
The Hall and Miller paper has been sent to Mr Warington, who was nominated second referee, and will be sent to Vines again when he returns. Regarding Dale's paper, Vines thinks the same referee should be used as for the first related paper. The alternative referee nominated by the Chairman of the Botany Committee for Miss Chick's paper is Professor Clowes who is not a Fellow. Asks Ward if under the circumstances Chick's paper should go to Clowes. |
