Date16 May 1905
DescriptionWith reference to the Under Secretary's letter of 31 March enclosing copies of the report for 190-1904 of the Indian Board of Scientific Advice for communication to the Advisory Committee of the Royal Society, the attention of the Observatories Committee of the Royal Society has been called to those paragraphs in the report which deal with astronomy and meteorology. The Committee have been cognizant of the progress of most of the work described on pages one to eight of the report, and learn with satisfaction that this work is proceeding in accordance with their recommendations, and with substantial results.

The President and Council desire to draw attention to the scientific importance of the main triangulation and pendulum work conducted under the superintendence of Colonel Burrard, which forms a most important contribution to the science of geodesy and has excited great interest amongst geodesists throughout Europe.
