TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Sir Thomas Henry Sanderson, Foreign Office
Date15 July 1905
DescriptionThanks Sanderson for his letter of the previous day. It was Professor [Arthur] Schuster's own suggestion that some one more accustomed to such negotiations than he should conjoin with him in considering the proposals to be made by Germany regrading the seismological co-operation. Schuster thought his position would be much strengthened if he could have the assistance of a Government official, and it seemed to the Royal Society, that without incurring the expense of sending a second delegate to Berlin, such an official might be available at the British embassy in Berlin. Does not think technical legal knowledge is so much required as some experience in business negotiation and acquaintance with German. The commercial attache to whom Sanderson refers might suffice.
