TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to Colonel [David] Bruce, [Fellow of the Royal Society]
Date17 July 1905
DescriptionThanks Bruce for his letter of 15 July. They must arrange the matter of Greig's at the Committee meeting next week. Though [Edwin Ray] Lankester is ill and will not be able to attend the Committee he has directed Geikie a letter in which he says that immediate action should be taken regarding the subsistence and house allowance granted to Dr Minchin. Lankester says the Royal Society promised him the same allowance as that granted Bruce and his wife. Geikie cannot find any mention of this in the agreement signed by Minchin nor any of the other documents. Queries Bruce's recollection of the matter. The only reference to the the house is in the memorandum where it is hoped a dwelling may be placed at Minchin's disposal by the local authorities.
