TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to the Secretary, United States Department of Agriculture, Washington
Date4 September 1905
DescriptionIt has been reported to the Society that 54 goats have lately been exported from Malta to the Department of Agriculture of the United States for the purpose supplying milk to Samatoria for phthisis. The Royal Society's Malta Fever Committee has recently ascertained that a large proportion of the goats of the island are infected with the virus of the fever and the micrococcus has been found abundantly in the milk. Geikie has had forwarded to the Department a copy of Part III of its Commission Report in which this subject is discussed, as he is sure the Bureau of Agriculture will be glad to be put on its guard as to any possible danger of infection from the milk.
