TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to Professor Edward Alfred Minchin, [Fellow of the Royal Society]
Date5 October 1905
DescriptionMinchin's letter of 5 September is welcome as it completely answers Geikie's question in his letter to Minchin of 29 July. The letter will be laid before the next meeting of the Committee and Geikie has little doubt that its recommendations will be approved.

Presumes the main question the Colonial Office will consider is the expense involved in the removal of the laboratory. It is difficulty to form any estimate at the Society on that point, but if the Home Government entertains the proposal to move the Laboratory, should the Committee of the Royal Society recommend it, one of the first points to be ascertained would be the cost. Presumes the Colonial Office would endeavour to obtain this from the authorities at Entebbe. The Society can of course make an approximate estimate of the expense for the fly-proof cages [for the monkeys].

Some of the Society's Committee are still absent but as soon as they can be mustered they will consider Minchin's letter and advise the Colonial Office on the subject.
