TitleCopy letter from Joseph Larmor, to the Agent General for South Australia
Date16 November 1905
DescriptionAt a recent meeting of the Council of the Royal Society a report on the Inter-State Astronomical and Meteorological Conference held at Adelaide in May 1905 was brought to the notice of Council, and they directed Larmor to convey their gratification at the scientific policy adopted by the Colonies in this mater. The proposed scientific department will meet with the hearty goodwill of the scientific bodies of Great Britain.

The report gave rise to general discussion of coordinating meteorological data in different parts of the world, and Council hope that means may be found for bringing the proposed cojoint Meteorological Organisation in Australia in relation to those of Great Britain, India and other colonies and dependencies of Great Britain, and in particular New Zealand.
