TitleCopy letter from Joseph Larmor and Archibald Geikie, to Messrs Harrison & Sons
Date26 January 1906
DescriptionThey communicate the outcome of a review by the President and Council of the Royal Society of the arrangements for sale of the Society's publications, leaving the sale of Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society and Proceedings of the Royal Society in Messrs Harrison & Sons' hands at the current 10% commission, but reducing the trade discount from 25% to 15%.

Due to a review of their contract with Messrs Dulau & Company, it will now also rest with Messrs Harrison to supply the separate papers of Philosophical Transactions, on the same terms as the rest, to the trade and any other persons who apply directly. Geikie also gives details of their resolution to fix a subscription price in advance for Proceedings. With regard to publications supplied direct to the public, they state the cost of despatch should not fall on the Society or subscribers.

They ask if Messrs Harrison & Sons will be willing to undertake the sales under the conditions outlined. Larmor and Geikie will be in touch again concerning the disposition of surplus stock currently held by Messrs Harrison & Sons.
