Description | Harrison thanks them for their letter, but notes that it fails to answer his complaint and that it is apparent that the systems they use to keep lists for despatch of notices and other material to Fellows need reform. In the case of Arthur Schuster, they were informed of his new address on 31 July 1899, and he cannot understand why the old address should have been retained. He outlines the similar complaint of Colonel Prain, Director of Kew Gardens, with his Royal Society material being sent to Calcutta despite Harrison & Sons having been notified of his new address.
He requests a complete review of their lists, which should then be submitted to the Society for verification. They should adopt a system under which such errors cannot continue. A copy of the Society's Year Book, 1906, should also be forwarded to Prain. |
