DescriptionGeikie asks that, if has time before departing on Friday, Eyre inform the Royal Society of any directions he wishes the Colonial Office to follow concerning his pay, and they will be forwarded. No official notice has been received from the Colonial Office of Eyre's appointment. He has asked the Society's Treasurer to forward a cheque for £50 as an advance to be repaid at Eyre's convenience from the funds to be given by the Colonial Office.
