Title | Copy letter from Joseph Larmor, to Karl Pearson, [Fellow of the Royal Society] |
Date | 22 March 1906 |
Description | Larmor has been handed, by Archibald Geikie, the papers associated with Dr Pearl's paper, reporting that the mathematical referee advised an abstract be published in Proceedings of the Royal Society, with the full paper to be published elsewhere to ensure a suitable audience; while the biologist referee was favourably impressed with the biology, but remarked that he did not understand the statistics.
Larmor supposes that the committee must make the decision in such a case, noting that the secretaries could not have anticipated this. He further notes the great difficulty encountered in finding referees at all. |
