Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Dr William Napier Shaw, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 26 March 1906 |
Description | Harrison has discovered that the Society of Antiquaries have also been investigating ventilation of their meeting room, and their system appears to be identical to that at the Royal Society. Their solution was to ask the Office of Works to make the system operational, ensuring the conduits from the gratings to the shafts are clear; they simply light the ring burners in the turret and have the windows ajar to provide an inlet, which Hope states has resulted in a real improvement.
He expresses doubt that the ring burner is sufficient to ventilate a space the size of their meeting room, but proposes quietly trying the experiment to see if it makes a difference. |
