TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies
Date23 May 1906
DescriptionGeikie enquires, for the information of the forthcoming Tropical Diseases Committee meeting, what arrangements are in place and being considered for the payment of Lieutenant Tulloch, invalided home from the Sleeping Sickness Commission in Uganda. They assume that Tulloch's pay will cease on his return from Uganda, but the Royal Society believes that this should be reconsidered, as the reason for his return is that he contracted trypanosomiasis whilst engaged in his work, especially as they fear his illness will be protracted and he will only receive ordinary pay as an officer of the Army Medical Corps for a limited time.

He further enquires as to the payment of Lieutenant Gray, who although home from Uganda, is still working for the Commission in collaboration with Professor Minchin. He suggests that his pay, on the higher scale, received from funds administered by the Colonial Office, be continued for as long as he is certified by the Committee to be engaged on this work.
