| Description | Harrison reprimands them following another case of notices of Royal Society meetings being sent to the addresses of Fellows who had died some time previously, with the most recent complaint coming from the widow of Professor Alexander William Williamson, who died in 1904.
Their explanation following a similar error relating to Sir Frederick Bramwell, was that they received no notice of his death, which Harrison believes to be unlikely, and that their clerks are allowed to address postcards at home, which they should only do if they have up to date lists. In the case of Williamson, he has a copy of the memorandum sent on 11 May 1904 to Messrs Harrison & Sons informing them of his death. He seeks their assurance that they have taken steps to prevent any recurrence of such mistakes, noting that they represent a 'serious slur' on the Royal Society's administration of their business. |
