| Description | Mr Fagan's letter in reply to Geikie's letter to Lankester of 17 July has been received. Geikie and the Treasurer [Alfred Bray Kempe] share the impression that it was never contemplated by the Council that the scientific results of the Antarctic Expedition should be broken up into separate publications. They took for granted the scientific reports would form one connected uniform series of volumes. Thinks it would be a serious injury to the sale of the Scientific Reports as a whole if they did not appear as one continuous series and all they wish to secure is that they should be uniform in size and appearance and numbered consecutively, though the volumes may be independent of each other and sold separately. Hopes when this view is laid before the Trustees [of the Natural History Museum] they may see their way to agree to it. |
