TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to The Under Secretary of State, Colonial Office
Date19 January 1907
DescriptionAcknowledges their letter of 15 January, enclosing a letter from the Stationary Office relating to the supply of three lithographic plates illustrating the Sleeping Sickness report recently printed by Messrs Darling & Son for the Stationary Office. The plates in question were originally made for a paper in 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]'. In order to save money the engravers, Messrs Huth, were instructed to keep the drawings in order to supply the Government with copies for the Sleeping Sickness report. The cost for this and 1500 copies was £37. It is reasonable that £13-15-0, charged by the engraver to the Stationary Office, is reasonable. Yet it is hard to understand how they have only paid £7-10-0, if the whole cost of preparing and printing the plates was met by them.
