| Description | About half of the meteorological tables of the 'Discovery' is now in type, and the whole work will probably make 400 pages. Presumes this, along with the material to come from the Meteorological Office, will form the first volume of the Physical Results of the Expedition. Sees no reason why they should not embark on a second volume. Nor does he see any difficulty in keeping up with the type until the rest of the manuscript for the volumes is ready.
Professor [Joseph] Larmor would like to hold a meeting of the Magnetic Committee to hand over ready material to the printers. Geikie does not object, but does not see why any more time should be wasted. Has written to Admiral Field about the Admiralty's results. Notices Sir [George Howard] Darwin was to see the 'Scotia' tidal material to compare it to the 'Discovery'. If it is ready, asks him to let Darwin have it. |
