Title | Copy letter from Archibald Geikie, to Sir Edward Grey, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs |
Date | 3 May 1907 |
Description | Geikie, at the request of the President of the Royal Society, presents a statement, which explains that Boards D and E for the administration of the Government Grant for scientific research have agreed to grant a sum of money to Miss Marie Charlotte Stopes, who is to go to Japan to investigate the fossil plants in some of the coal-series of that country, believing her to be particularly well qualified for the task.
Following correspondence with some university authorities in Japan, they suggest they will be able to lend greater support if the British Ambassador in Toyko could apply to the Japanese Government to officially authorise their granting her assistance. |
