| Description | An address has been drawn up for presentation to Sir Joseph Hooker on the occasion of his 90th birthday in June, which the Council have ordered to be engrossed, a term recently interpreted by the Royal Society to mean printed in a 'tasteful way' on vellum.
Harrison explains that the Cambridge University Press usually do such work for the Society, but he wonders if the Clarendon Press would like to attempt it. If so, he asks that Miers take charge of obtaining a sheet suitable for the occasion and ready to be sealed at the next Council meeting on 13 June. They can supply a block of the Society's arms for the head and he asks that they have an illuminated initial letter.
Harrison encloses the draft address and asks if Miers agrees with the suggestion that he speak to Mr Hart about the matter or take other steps as desirable. He asks that care be taken of the address as it is the only copy. |
