TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Arthur Schuster, Chairman of the Physics and Chemistry Sectional Committee
Date17 June 1907
DescriptionThe third referee for the paper, 'On Electric Furnace Reactions under High Gaseous Pressures' by Robert Salmon Hutton and Joseph Ernest Petavel, has recommended against publication in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, on the grounds that it does not represent a new departure in physics or chemistry and the results do not reveal any new discoveries. The first referee, Richard Threlfall, recommended publication on the basis of the novelty of the matter, if not the results, while the second referee, Charles Thomas Heycock, had reported against publication.

Harrison asks that Schuster minute his opinion on how to proceed with the paper.
