| Description | In response to their letter of 11 October, Harrison wants them to take the whole cost of the two plates for Dr Andrews' paper for Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, and therefore asks that they instruct the artist who will make the drawings on the stone. Miss Woodward's charges, namely five pounds and five shillings per plate, are thought to be too high, and Harrison considers it out of the question for the Royal Society to pay such a sum.
Harrison asks that one of their draughtsmen is put in contact with Andrews and he is given a fresh estimate for the work. It is not their practice to pay artists directly for illustrations to papers. |
