TitleCopy letter from Joseph Larmor, to the Secretary, His Majesty's Treasury
Date7 November 1907
DescriptionThe President and Council of the Royal Society have directed Larmor to transmit for the information of the Lord Commissioners of the Treasury the enclosed memorandum on increased expenditure by the Executive Committee of the National Physical Laboratory. The President and Council wish to support the applications contained in the memorandum and believe the Executive Committee of the Laboratory have given the lowest figure possible.

The Laboratory is stated to be a active agent for the country in a significant amount of international official work of a scientific character, which would otherwise occur with less continuity and at greater expense. The President and Council add that in making nominations to the Executive Committee, they have made efforts to secure the men most qualified to direct such an institution, and the committee have devoted their business ability and personal influence to the economic developments of the institution.
