To save time the enclosed illustrations are sent direct to Professor Hickson. A letter is following from Sir Archibald Geikie with reference to them, explaining that the accompanying new figures have been substituted for the four figures which originally accompanied the paper which were passed for publication in the proceedings [of the Royal Society].
