TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Charles E Benham, 28 Wellesley Road, Colchester
Date18 May 1908
Description'Dear Sir, I am much obliged by your letter. I certainly do not think it is generally recognised that Gilberd payed an important part in origination the Royal Society, but any information on the subject is of interest and not likely to be dismissed here with contempt. I should be particularly interested in any references you could give me to justify the connection between the assemblies at Gilberd's house and the meetings of the "Philosophers" which ultimately developed into the Royal Society.'
