Title | Copy letter from Archibald Geikie to Dr Henry Woodward |
Date | 19 May 1908 |
Description | Geikie has received Woodward's note together with the paper by Mr Desley. Geikie asks if Woodward has any knowledge of Dr Forsyth Major's circumstances as to be able to guide the Royal Society in reference to his election. Usually newly elected Fellows present themselves for admission and pay an annual contribution. Geikie knows Forsyth Major is not well off and thinks perhaps the payment of the annual fee would be an inconvenient burden. It is a rather delicate matter and Geikie asks it Woodward can ascertain what he wants to know without hurting his feelings.' |
