TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to The Under Secretary of State, Home Office
Date10 July 1908
DescriptionRegarding their letter of 7 April, and subsequent correspondence on the subject of an enquiry into Glass Workers' Cataract, informs them that the Royal Society has nominated two Sub-Committees in connection with the investigation. One of these proposes to visit some of the principle Glass manufactories with a view to obtaining data regarding the process of manufacture and the incidence of the disease among the workers. The other is engaged in drawing up a scheme for experimental investigations in the Laboratory. It will be necessary for them to have skilled assistance, and for that purpose funds will be required. Enquires whether the Home Office is prepared to place a sum at their disposal. It is not certain the full amount, but a sum of £500 should be allocated.
