TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Dr Georg von Neumayer, Foreign Member of the Royal Society
Date9 November 1908
DescriptionHarrison is responding at once to Neumayer's letter of 7 November, regarding the manuscript 'Observations taken at Melbourne (1858-1863)'. Harrison has made enquiries at Kew Observatory in case Sir Edward Sabine had lent them to that insititution. The stock of publications stored in the basement was rearranged to see if the missing manuscript had been placed their during the removal into those premises in 1873, but regrets to say that this has been in vain, but all hope must not be abandoned.

During the last few months a general clearance of the basement of the Royal Society has taken place, and although not sanguine of success, it is possible in some corner a parcel of these volumes might be found. Harrison is also hoping to have a new catalogue of the serial publications in the Library made from the shelves. This will necessitate a thorough examination, and if they are not found then, then it is feared they are lost.
