Referring to your letter of January 19, I am requested by the Treasurer of the Royal Society to send you the enclosed cheque for £150 being a grant from the Royal Society in aid of the cost of measurement of the 30th meridian on the boundary between Uganda and the Congo Free State.
I shall be glad to receive an acknowledgement of the cheque in due course.'
