Description'Dear Sir,
With reference to your paper 'One the figure of the Earth'', which I understand you wish to withdrawn upon the advice of Sir George Greenhill who originally communicated it to the Society, I now return your manuscript to you in accordance with the request contained in your letter of February 11th. The paper is returned to you upon the understanding that it is to be regarded as not having been communicated to the Royal Society at all, and I shall be glad if, in acknowledging the safe receipt of your manuscript, you will give me a written assurance to this effect in compliance with the requirements of the Standing Orders of Council.'
