Description'Dear Sir George Darwin,
There is a paper by Mr Walter Heape, FRS [Fellow of the Royal Society] on the "Proportion of the sexes produced by whites and coloured people in Cuba" at present under consideration for the Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society], upon which the Secretaries, upon which the Secretaries are desirous of obtaining your opinion as referee and before sending it to you I write to enquire whether you will be willing to as a referee. If you consent to do this I will send the paper to you at once.'
