Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster |
Date | 1 January 1891 |
Description | Mr Willey has not previously held a grant and means to apply for an extended grant. Rix thinks they ought to have a new form for extended grants and will send a proof of one tomorrow, and sends two copies of the Government Grant Regulations herewith in order to critique the new form [not attached].
Rix is sending a stock of envelopes today and hopes they are the two kinds Foster means. Rix has Spencer and Horsley's paper in hand, the Lane-Fox affair is quite quiet at present.
Harrisons promise to send Foster the revise of his history tonight. Rix encloses herewith memoranda settling Foster's two principal queries viz the two patches stuck on the statutes of 1776 [not attached]. Rix reports that there are two editions of '1831'. These are the Statutes made in 1823 and printed in 1831, and the Statutes of 1831 printed 'heaven knows when', and Rix sends both these volumes by rail tonight. In the latter edition Foster will see that the hour of meeting is 8.30 but when this change was made they cannot tell and there seems to be no record of it after an exhaustive search. Rix ought to have Foster's final corrected revise by next Monday or Tuesday to print off for circulation with Council summonses. |
