Description'Dear Sirs,
In reply to your letter of the 28th May enclosing a letter from the Great Western Railway and transfer of Stock, I have to inform you for the information of the Great Western Railway Company, that by the Statutes of the Royal Society (Chapter 18, Section2) "Every Deed or Writing to which the common seal is to be affixed shall be passed and sealed in Council". In pursuance of the Statute the seal of the Society was affixed at a meeting of the Council held on May 20, at which I was present, and I enclose a copy of the Minute of that meeting relating to the subject under reference. I trust this will satisfy the Great Western Company.'
