TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie to [Henry George] Lyons
Date1 September 1909
DescriptionAlthough Lyons may be "in the back of beyond" Geikie writes to him to ask whether he can be of service in regard to the matter referred to in the enclosed copy of Lyons' letter which has come from Africa [no enclosure]. Professor Beattie has been engaged in magnetic work with a grant from the Cargnie Institute and the Government and it was his intention to return by way of the Nile, he has applied to the Sudan Government by letter. Geikie asks if Lyon has any influence with the Sudan authorities, or whether there is any other way Lyons could be of help. Geikie asks because he is the only one where as everybody else is on holiday!
