DescriptionThe Joint Committee appointed by the Royal Society and by Sheffield University to administer the income of the Sorby Research Fund have today held a a meeting at which they have selected Jocelyn Field Thorpe, out of a list of thirty-three candidates, as the first holder of the Fellowship. Thorpe is a distinguished chemist, Fellow of the Royal Society, and at present engaged as senior lecturer in chemistry in the University of Manchester, and he proposes to devote himself during his tenure to researches on the chemistry of imino-compounds.
