TitleCopy letter from Secretary of the Royal Society, to M A Beernaert, Ministre d'Etat, 11 Rue d'Arlon, Bruxelles
Date10 December 1909
DescriptionThe letter signed by Beernaert relating to circulation among Fellows of the manifesto regarding the Congo territories has been submitted to the President. The functions of the Royal Society are closely defined by its Charter, and do not admit of its taking action in matters that might be considered to be of a political character, so the President regrets that he is unable to take the action suggested. This cannot, however, make much difference in the end as many other eligible channels are open.
