| Description | Ramsay's letter repeating application for a subscription to the proposed International organisation for an annual tabulation of physico-chemical constants was read at the last Council meeting. They decided to adhere to their previous decision, that although they recognise the importance of the object aimed at, they are unable to support the undertaking in its present form.
It has been policy to make the adhesion of the Royal Society to International undertakings depend on their obtaining the approval of the International Association of Academies, and they consider that in the present instance it is especially unfortunate that this course has not been followed. The expense thereby would have been largely reduced. |
