DescriptionLast July Mrs Tyndall, in pursuance of a wish expressed by the late Professor [John] Tyndall, entrusted to the Royal Society the sum of £1000 to be administered at the discretion of President and Council for the purpose of encouraging research in all matters pertaining to mining, and it has now been referred to a Committee consisting of Sir Archibald Geikie, Professor Harold Baily Dixon, Dr Ernest Howard Griffiths, Dr John Scott Haldane, and Dr Aubrey Strahan, with the Secretary of the Institution of Mining Engineers, Sir Henry Cunynghame, Professor John Cadman, and Mr W E Garforth to prepare a scheme.

President and Council hopes they will be willing to serve on the Committee.
